Bio
Luis Carrillo was born and raised in México and has always held a passion for photography. While living in México Luis photographed a number of significant events for México’s leading newspaper, Reforma.
He photographed the runways of “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week México” and “Liverpool Fashion Fest” As well as live concerts, sporting events and society weddings.
Luis has traveled to photograph a variety of assignments around the world including the “ITU World Triathlon Final” in Gold Coast, Australia; the “Red Gala” in Miami, Florida and the opening of the “Mexican Geniuses: A Frida & Diego Immersive Experience”, exhibition in London England.
In 2021 Luis was the principal Photographer for the México Pavilion at the World Expo Dubai. The Word Expo in Dubai required Luis to be in the United Arab Emirates for over six months in order to photograph every facet of the Méxican presence in the region. This included capturing live performances from such Méxican luminaries such as Jorge Vila Dom, Elisa Carrillo, and the Ballet Folklórico de Amalia Hernández. Additionally, Luis captured the elegance of official government events during the World Expos as well as showcasing Mexican craftsmanship and artisans displayed throughout.
Luis is a graduate of the Photography Program at Centennial College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he currently resides.
The evolution of his photography practice has evolved from photo journalism to a more commercial based business.
